FORMER general manager of Canada Bay and Auburn councils, Lea Rosser, has accepted a position as general manager with Cessnock City Council.

Cessnock mayor Alison Davey confirmed yesterday that the council had offered Ms Rosser the position which she has accepted subject to finalising contract details.

The council's current general manager Bernie Mortomore did not reapply for the position and will leave the council after 35 years' service in October.

Ms Rosser will join the council on October 5.

"Ms Rosser will bring with her a wealth of experience gained in local government, public service and private enterprise," Cr Davey said.

Ms Rosser was one of three shortlisted applicants for the general manager's position who each gave a 15 minute presentation to councillors on Wednesday night.

Cr James Ryan said Ms Rosser had a good track record in senior positions and was well qualified both "academically and experience wise".
