The Governor-General and Mrs Hayden arrived in Sydney from Port Douglas on Saturday afternoon.

On Sunday, the Governor-General and Mrs Hayden attended the Rugby League Grand Final at the Sydney Football Stadium as guests of the Sydney Football Stadium Trust.

His Excellency the Governor, accompanied by Mrs Sinclair, opened the 23rd annual conference of the NSW Volunteer Rescue Association Inc, at the Australian Army Conference Centre, Randwick on Saturday morning.

In the afternoon Mrs Sinclair spoke at the Ex-AAMWS Association of NSW reunion lunch at the NSW Bowlers' Club, Sydney.

Yesterday morning the Governor and Mrs Sinclair attended and the Governor read the Second Lesson at the anniversary of the Battle of Britain church service at St Andrew's Cathedral, Sydney.

They later attended and the Governor opened the annual spring exhibition held by the Royal Art Society of NSW at the Lavender Bay Gallery, North Sydney.

They later attended the Rugby League Grand Final at the Sydney Football Stadium and the Governor presented the Churchill Medal.
