THERE'S GOOD NEWS, BAD NEWS

SWEET and sour news for Sydney theatre producer John Frost. On the one hand he has a successful tour of The King and I, starring Hayley Mills, putting bums on seats in Adelaide and Brisbane, along with the smash-hit Jerry's Girls playing in Sydney starring Jackie Love.

Now the bad news. Word is he is in the midst of negotiations to bring another Rogers and Hammerstein Broadway musical to Australia, and while almost ready to close the deal, a rival Sydney management has suddenly appeared on the scene to try to undercut Frost and his team.

On a brighter theatre note, the investment prospectus has just gone out for Grease, due to open locally in September, with Guy Pearce (Neighbours and Home and Away) in the John Travolta role. Good timing given that the original soundtrack is still number one on the charts.
