LISA McCune, star of the country police drama Blue Heelers, hopes the long arm of the law can capture the Gold Logie for her at tonight's annual Logie Awards. McCune, 25, who won a Logie for Most Popular New Talent last year, has been nominated for Most Popular Actress and Most Popular Personality on Australian TV.

Other contenders for the Gold Logie for Most Popular Personality are A Current Affair's Ray Martin, Home And Away's Melissa George and her former on-screen love interest Dieter Brummer, and Hey Hey It's Saturday's Daryl Somers, who is also hosting the awards.

The Logies will be broadcast on Channel 9 from 8.30 tonight.
