Nominations for this year's Logie awards have blown wide open with the deluge of new serials and mini-series introduced to television screens last year.

While old favourites All Saints and Home and Away are in the thick of nominations, Channel Seven's Always Greener, Ten's The Secret Life of Us and Channel Nine's McLeod's Daughters have all been given nods.

The Secret Life of Us has received nine nominations, just behind All Saints with 10.

Always a ceremony to garner controversy, the axed ABC series Love Is a Four Letter Word has been nominated for Most Outstanding Drama Series and Most Outstanding Actress for Kate Beahan.

Gold Logie nominations have gone to a raft of new and old talent, with last year's winner Georgie Parker up for another gong.

Blue Heelers stalwart John Wood has his sixth consecutive nomination, while Home and Away's Ada Nicodemou has received her second consecutive nomination.

Surprise entrants in the Gold race include All Saints' Libby Tanner and talk show host Rove McManus.

And this year is the first time a reality show contestant has made the successful transition to television drama, with Big Brother's Blair McDonough being nominated for Best New Male Talent on Neighbours.

Australia's highest paid female radio announcer, 2DayFM's Wendy Harmer, will host the 44th annual awards in Melbourne on April 28. Guest artists will include Latin pop diva Shakira and Bold and the Beautiful soapie stalwart Ronn Moss.

TV Week assistant editor Miranda Herron confirmed Shakira, whose Wherever, Whenever sat at the top of the Australian charts for six weeks, would perform. Ronn Moss, who's been on the US soapie since it began in 1987, will make a guest appearance.
