Because I know there are kids out there, I want to make sure they all know that driving without braking is not something I recommend, unless you have professional clown training or a comedy background, as I do.

Jerry Seinfeld manages to laugh off the fact he crashed his car recently after the brakes failed.

Anna's hot role as a mistress

* AFTER appearances in McLeod's Daughters, Young Lions and The Secret Life Of Us, Anna Torv, daughter of Sydney radio legend Hans (right), looks set to make her mark internationally in the British hit Mistresses. Due to air on Nine next week, the drama series about the lives of "other women" has just been picked up for a second season in Britain.

* ANOTHER face to watch is Tessa James, who joins Home And Away as the long-discussed, but never seen daughter to Conrad Coleby's character, Roman. James, who had a minor role in rival soap Neighbours, will play a "spoilt rich girl".

* LAST week's American Idol charity telethon Idol Gives Back showed a different side to the talents of two actors. In among the fund-raising were a couple of tunes belted out by Desperate Housewives star Teri Hatcher and 24's Kiefer Sutherland. And surprisingly, neither was actually too bad.

* FORGET Paris and Lindsay - two of Hollywood's real party girls, Kim and Khloe Kardashian, are coming to town. The pair, daughters of OJ Simpson attorney Robert Kardashian, stars of their own reality show and generally two of the wildest of the wild child set, will be guest presenters at the MTV Australia Awards this Saturday.

Hot List

Three of the best . . .

Desperate Housewives: Something's Coming, Monday, 8.30pm, Seven

This was the highest rating episode of the current series in the US and it's easy to see why - it's packed with suspense, intrigue and a natural disaster.

It Takes Two: Grand Final, Tuesday, 7.30pm, Seven

After months of watching songs being mangled on this celebrity singing contest, the moment of truth has arrived.

Anzac Day 2008, Friday, 9am, ABC1

The ABC's live coverage of Anzac Day events includes the march from Martin Place in Sydney and the dawn service in Gallipoli.

. . . and the worst

Numb3rs: Chinese Box, Wednesday, 9.30pm, Ten

The figures just don't add up on this FBI series when a gun-toting paranoiac takes an agent hostage in - of all places - an elevator.

Whatever Happened To . . . Matthew Lillard

He played Shaggy in the revamped Scooby Doo movies, then seemed content with a string of very small roles in blink-and-you-miss-them movies. But Matthew Lillard is heading back into the spotlight alongside Gena Davis in a new cop show called Exit 19. Davis will play a single-mum detective, Lillard will play her younger brother.FAST FACT: The ABC's Four Corners is the world's second longest-running current affairs program.
