IT was a dream come true for young Novocastrian Todd Lasance when he landed a guest part in popular Australian television soapie Home and Away.

He had to learn quickly.

The 20-year old from Fletcher said not only did he have to adjust to life on a soap set but also he had to learn about the show's characters and plots.

"I hadn't watched a lot of it before I got the part but now I know it backwards," he laughed.

The actor will make a guest appearance in the series on Thursday as 16-year old Aden Jeffries.

His two-month contract requires him to remain tight-lipped about his character.

"All I can say is he [Aden] causes a bit of mischief in the Bay but he's really a good guy."

Lasance was offered his first television role in late May after auditioning for a different role as a police officer.

"It was surreal to watch these people on television and then there you are on set and Bec Cartwright comes up and chats to you," he said.

After studying drama at school, Lasance played several lead roles in Young People's Theatre productions, at Hamilton.

A permanent part on the teen surf soap will depend on viewers' feedback.
